Indicolite is an indigo blue variety of tourmaline

Although tourmaline is found in practically all colors, blue is in fact the rarest color of tourmaline. The so-called Indicolite tourmaline, colored by iron, can vary from a light blue to a deep blue. Like most tourmaline, it is strongly pleochroic,

A bluish-green or blue-green color is quite common in indicolite. The purest blues will tend to be found only in small sizes, often less than 1 carat. Larger stones will tend to have a stronger green component. Blue green are also bicolor.

Indicolite tourmaline is occasionally found where there are significant deposits of tourmaline. The main sources are Brazil, Nigeria, Afghanistan, the United States (California and Maine), Mozambique, Namibia and Madagascar.

Their rarity and popularity with gem collectors and connoisseurs means that they can often command some of the highest prices of all. Indicolite is used preferably in the throat and third eye chakras, stimulating or balancing communication. It is usually used to heal eye conditions, to reduce inflammation, for headaches, toothaches, ear and attracts money
