This name is given to the pink, normally pale pink variety of beryl. Pleochroism in this stone is imperceptible.
It is not a common stone. As with all pale coloured stones, examples with a more intense colour are the most highly-prized.
It is basically a gemstone for collectors and stone lovers, and is not frequently used in jewellery, although this is not true in all countries.
Morganites are found mainly in the USA, Brazil and Madagascar.
